I think that we should have seen more of the part of him being “Doctor Sleep”. When obi wan had the high ground on the stairs holding the axe I wanted him to say to Rose ‘hello there. The critics completely missed the point. Ask yourself, what if it were possible for Shakespeare to come back and do a sequel to Hamlet? Wouldn't you want to know how he might top "To Be Or Not To Be? Well basically that is what just happened. Stephen King (still alive and well, by the way) took one of his most popular books. a book he wrote in 1977. and did a sequel. He doesn't do that every day. Takes hubris. And cohones of steel. Then Hollywood stepped in, grabbed Ewen MacGregor and Rebecca Ferguson, and did a followup to The SHINING (1980) one of the most iconic hits of all time. And the critics just moaned and groaned and navel-gazed, as per usual. It might be too long. It might have flat spots and missed beats. And it might not pass Ebert's infamous "watch test." But, at the end of the day, Shakespeare just came back to give us an extra play. And no one even noticed.

When ghost comes near McGregor Ghost: hello there. One of my favorite books I ever read can't wait to see how they adapt it into a film I hope they stay true to the book.

I love how its still a sequel to Kubricks film, and not just on the books timeline. The Shinning was great, this movie was okay. Visually it had some cool stuff going on, the story however was a bit strange. I really thought the casting was spot on, it was also cool to see the old characters reimagined. Man in the bear costume was the most terrifying scene I've ever witnessed in any movie! Disturbed me for weeks on end! Maybe you could say it took years.

I just watched this movie, the director is a genius, creation of the King world is perfect, just perfect! I think the Only time they made it this good was Stand by me and Dolores Claiborne ❤️ you can really feel the King touch and that is rare. No ending scene? The scariest scene to me in the movie is when Jack appears in a historical picture of an Overlook Ball, implying Jack became a restless spirit within the hotel just all the other people in the photograph. The music makes it worse. Fun fact: Same thing happens in Candyman 1992. Main character Helen appears as graffiti art on the walls of Cabrini Green, implying that she part of the Candyman legend. It's a scary idea that I absolutely love.

When you find out you're 1% Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick would not approve. First off what the heck is up with "THE IMAX 2-D EXPERIENCE" when I search "Doctor Sleep" on IMDB? I haven't even heard of this movie playing in IMAX and that's not the actual title of the film. This promotional nonsense is out of hand. Shame on you, IMDB.
Since I can come back and edit this, let me just say this for now - You can wait to stream this film. It's not worth a trip to the cinema unless you're a huge SK fan or really got into the novels "The Shining" and "Doctor Sleep" because this one is both true to the latter to a significant albeit different degree, and a disservice to the former in terms of cinematic accomplishment.
I honestly cannot understand any ratings for this lower than 5 or higher than 8 - it just wasn't a polarizing movie in any typical way. I'll be back to update after a second watch, but until then - only go watch if you're really bored in one of the other previously mentioned categories.

Where can we find the music from this trailer? its an awesome version of the older theme. There is a mistake on the door, watch the Kubrick movie again, and look at the door when Hallorann shows up. Its like he did the Here's Johnny scene twice. The shining music at the end got me so hyped. BEST FILM AFTER THE SHINING BEST SEQUEL FILM. I'm in love with that place.
